    To whom it may concern.
    I live in Surrey, UK, and am disabled, so use a large mobility scooter to get around.

    On 31 May 2019, sometime during the afternoon, my friend and I were in the Ikea showroom when the fire alarm went off and everyone was asked to leave the store.

    Due to being on the mobility scooter we were directed to go outside on to a metal area at the top of stairs. When I asked about lifts, we were told, ‘the lifts are not allowed to be used during this situation and they automatically shut down’.

    Fortunately for us, that day, it wasn’t raining, as there was nothing to protect my friend and I if it had been.

    The workers who had directed us to the top of stairs, got into a conversation, with us, when I pointed out the lack of a ramp from floor one down to the ground. They agreed and after making sure everyone had got out, closed the store doors and left me sitting there. They said they ‘had to leave’, I guess, so they could go to the rendezvous point, saying they ‘would let other workers know your here’. After a while two others workers came. The topic of conversation was about the lack of a ramp came up again and the two Ikea workers also said there should be ramps all around the building to let disabled people have access to ground level in these circumstances.

    Previously, when my friend and I were inside the store, we noticed and commented to one another, about the large amount of disabled people/children who were using wheelchairs and motorised mobility vehicles that day.

    Don’t you think, for a large company like Ikea, which have stores all over the world, you would be aware of the dangers of mobility impaired people, (MIP’s), not being able to have access to get to ground level on outside ramps during a fire alarm, or even worse, an actual fire.

    As an MIP, I would be worried about using your store again until external ramps were in place to let MIP’s access ground areas in these circumstances.

    I’ve been trying to send this to Ikea head office, over the last month, but when I type in the CAPTCHA, (correctly), I keep receiving a message saying ‘wrong code’, because of this I cannot send my message.
    I’m in Ikea now and hoping the people at customer services can help me send this to your head office.

    IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH AN ARTICLE,EXCHANGED WITH EASE. A WEE WHILE AGO I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY DISHWASHER FRONT. WITHIN 4 DAYS A NEW ONE HAD ARRIVED!!!! SUPER IKEA THANK YOU
